Dr. Maria Papaetrou Joins King Animal Hospital

Dr. Maria Papapetrou’s interest in veterinary medicine developed early through her experiences caring for a variety of companion animals, fostering a strong appreciation for animal health and welfare. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Guelph before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College.

Dr. Papapetrou’s clinical interests include emergency surgery, geriatric medicine, pain management, and emergency care. She enjoys soft tissue emergency surgery, especially reproductive ones such as c-sections or pyometras. She is particularly focused on the assessment and management of age-related conditions in senior patients, with an emphasis on maintaining comfort, function, and quality of life. She maintains a strong interest in multimodal pain control and the role of effective analgesia in both acute and chronic disease management.

Dr. Papapetrou is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care and values clear, collaborative communication with pet owners and veterinary colleagues.
