WHAT TO EXPECT ON ARRIVAL
Upon arriving at our emergency department, one of our friendly receptionists will gather necessary information and assist you with any required forms. Similar to a human hospital, our emergency department operates on a triage system, prioritizing patients based on the severity of their condition rather than the order of arrival.
TRIAGE AND INITIAL ASSESSMENT
A technician will promptly attend to you, asking preliminary questions and conducting an initial assessment of your pet. This may occur in the waiting room, an exam room, or in a designated assessment area. Vital parameters such as heart rate, temperature, breathing rate, and other critical signs will be checked. Depending on the situation, you may be asked for permission to perform diagnostic tests or treatments, such as pain relief, x-rays, or basic bloodwork, to expedite the diagnostic process and enhance the efficiency of your consultation.
VETERINARY CONSULTATION
Our emergency veterinarians will thoroughly discuss your pet’s condition, physical examination findings, and available treatment options with you. This may include recommendations for diagnostic testing, hospitalization, surgery, or referrals to our specialty departments.
