The Hospital

King Animal Hospital is a privately owned Equine and Small Animal Muli-Specialty Referral & Emergency Services Hospital located in King City, Ontario, Canada.

The first phase of our hospital is 60,000 square feet and features eight operating rooms, 12 exam rooms, two x-ray rooms, an intensive care unit (ICU), a large learning centre for knowledge exchange, corporate gym and more, We have two further phases started to expand our services!

We currently have 20 doctors on staff for you to collaborate with in Neurology, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Oncology, Surgery, Diagnostics, Critical Care, ER, and Anesthesia.

The Team

You will join a dynamic and collaborative multi-disciplinary team comprising approximately 100 staff members. This team includes an In-House Social Worker, Board-Certified Specialists in Small Animal & Equine Surgery, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Anesthesia, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Oncology, Emergency Services, and Rehabilitation and a strong support team of Registered Veterinary Technicians, and Animal Care Attendants.

Diagnostics & Equipment

At King Animal Hospital, we pride ourselves on utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and equipment to provide the best possible care.

Our diagnostic capabilities include: a 3T MRI (GE) for small animal patients, a 1.5 MRI (Siemens) for equine patients, CT-Scan with a robotic arm for equine (Universal Medical System), CT scan for small animal (GE128 slice), C-arm, ultrasound (Logic Q), video endoscopes, rigid scopes, laparoscopy/arthroscopy towers (Storz/Arthrex), I-Stat and Radiometer, 7 Force Triad vessel sealing units, Arthrex and Synthes TPLO and plate fixation, Biomedtrix I-loc fracture fixation and total hip replacements, high flow oxygen and mechanical ventilation, ECG, VCM for Viscoelastic Coagulation

To further aid in surgical outcomes, we have a well-equipped rehabilitation center catering to both equine and small animal patients. This center includes three canine hydrotherapy treadmills, a regular canine treadmill, an equine hydrotherapy treadmill, a canine rehabilitation pool, laser therapy (Companion Class IV), a 6000-square-foot indoor equine ring, and a hyperbaric chamber.

We are one of only two veterinary hospitals in Canada to house a Hyperbaric Chamber (Sechrist Veterinary). Additionally, we have access to Laser Therapy, an in-house IDEXX lab, and Cubex for Pharmaceuticals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to CMO, work with a team of 8 to 10 DVMs. Strong RVT & ACA Support.
  • Collaborate closely with Board Certified Critical Care Specialists, Anesthesiologists, and Referral Specialties to ensure comprehensive patient care and optimal outcomes.
  • Participate in surgical procedures and receive training from our Board-Certified Surgeons.
  • Deliver exceptional emergency veterinary care, including diagnosis, treatment, and surgical interventions.

Qualifications:

King Animal Hospital, a newly constructed Equine and Small Animal Referral and Emergency Hospital, is seeking experienced Animal Care Attendants to join our team!

Our hospital is a 60,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility located on 50 acres in King City, Ontario, and will offer specialty referral, rehabilitation, and emergency services.

The Animal Care Attendant (ACA) reports to the Lead ACA and will work alongside Registered Veterinary Technicians, Veterinarians and Veterinary Specialists to provide high-quality care and support to animals, helping to maintain their health and welfare.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting veterinarians, technicians, and other medical staff during examinations, treatments and possibly surgeries.

Equine Emergency Surgeon

King Animal Hospital is seeking a Board Certified (ACVS or ECVS) Equine Surgeon to join our team.

Who We Are:

King Animal Hospital is a new, privately owned, 60,000 sq ft. Equine & Small Animal Referral & Emergency Services Hospital.

As we innovate and evolve, we are adding a new facility on the same fifty acres dedicated to Emergency Equine Surgery. This will compliment our existing facility, staff, and services in elective orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.

You will join our Chief Medical Officer of Equine, three (3) highly esteemed and experienced board-certified surgeons, anesthesiologist and a dedicated support team of dedicated Registered Veterinary Technicians and Animal Care Attendants. All veterinarians will share in rotating on call duties to ensure the best care for our patients.

You will work with advanced diagnostics including a Siemens 1.5 MRI, Robotic Arm CT scan, Scintigraphy, Digital Radiography, Ultrasound, Arthroscopy and Laparoscopy Towers, and Endoscopes, 6000 sq ft equine ring, equine rehabilitation water treadmill, and in house lab and pharmacy.

Who You Are:

  • You are a strongly skilled and experienced Equine Surgeon that is interested in working in a new privately owned hospital focused on compassionate care, and innovation.

Education:

  • ACVS or ECVS Board Certification in Large Animal/Equine Surgery

Licensure:

  • Licensed to practice in Ontario or eligible to obtain licence.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in equine surgery.
  • Experienced in a variety of surgical techniques and procedures.
  • Experienced with advanced diagnostic procedures.
  • Experience in sports medicine is an asset but not required.

Skills:

  • This role demands a high level of expertise, compassion, and a commitment to providing the best possible care for our equine patients.
