Small Animal Surgeon (ACVS / ECVS)
King Animal Hospital – King City, Ontario, Canada
King Animal Hospital is seeking a Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Small Animal Surgeon (ACVS or ECVS) to join our multi-disciplinary referral and emergency team.
You will play a key role in developing and expanding our Small Animal Surgery service, working closely with a team of specialists and experienced RVTs. Your expertise will directly impact the lives of our patients while contributing to a supportive, learning-focused culture.

King Animal Hospital is a privately owned, 60,000 sq ft Equine and Small Animal Multi-Specialty Referral & Emergency Services Hospital located in King City, Ontario, Canada.

Join Our Multi-Disciplinary Team
You will join a dynamic and collaborative team of three surgeons and approximately 250 staff members, dedicated to the following specialties.
- Small Animal Orthopedic Surgery
- Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery
- Cardiology
- Oncology
- Equine Surgery
- Internal Medicine
- Critical Care
- Neurology/Neurosurgery
- Anesthesia
- Dermatology
- Ophthalmology
- Emergency Services
- Rehabilitation
You will be supported by a strong team of Registered Veterinary Technicians, Animal Care Attendants, and an in-house Social Worker who provides education and support to prevent compassion fatigue and burnout.

Advanced Diagnostics, Equipment & Surgical Environment
At King Animal Hospital, you will have access to a comprehensive suite of surgical and diagnostic tools, including:
- 3T MRI (GE) for small animals
- 1.5T MRI (Siemens) for equine patients
- CT-Scan with robotic arm for equine (Universal Medical System)
- GE 128-slice CT for small animals
- C-arm and fluoroscopy
- Ultrasound (Logic Q) and digital radiography
- Video endoscopes and rigid scopes
- Laparoscopy/arthroscopy towers (Storz/Arthrex)
- Arthrex and Synthes TPLO and plate fixation systems
- Biomedtrix I-loc fracture fixation and total hip replacement systems
- I-Stat and Radiometer analyzers
- High-flow oxygen and mechanical ventilation
- Advanced coagulation monitoring (e.g., VCM for viscoelastic coagulation)
Our well-equipped Rehabilitation Centre supports small animal patients and includes:
- Three canine hydrotherapy treadmills
- Canine treadmill and rehabilitation pool
- Companion Class IV laser
- Hyperbaric chamber (Sechrist Veterinary)
You will also have input on additional equipment and tools required to support your surgical practice.

About You
Our ideal candidate:
- Is Board-Certified in Small Animal Surgery (ACVS or ECVS) or residency-trained and eligible for board certification.
- Is licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO)
- Brings strong communication skills and a client-focused approach.
