DR. GIBRANN CASTILLO

MVZ, DVSC. DACVIM

Board-Certified Neurologist

Dr. Gibrann Castillo completed his DVM at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in 2016. He then worked in a small animal general practice in Mexico City before coming to Guelph, Ontario in 2017 to begin a small animal rotating internship at the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC). After this, he stayed at the OVC to pursue a specialty internship program in neurology in 2018 followed by a neurology residency and doctorate program from 2019-2022. Dr. Castillo earned his board certification in 2022, becoming a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in Neurology. Since then, he has worked in the GTA as a veterinary neurologist.

Dr. Castillo’s professional interests include intervertebral disc disease, advanced imaging diagnostics, meningoencephalitis of unknown etiology, and central nervous system neoplasia.

DR. TOMMIE VAN VEGHEL

BSC. (HONS), DC, DVM, DACVIM

Board-Certified Neurologist

Dr. Tommie van Veghel received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Melbourne in Australia (2019). He then moved back home to Canada, and completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph (2021). He is in the process of finishing a residency in neurology and neurosurgery at the Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to his veterinary studies, Dr. van Veghel also earned a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in Toronto, Canada. He has treated patients in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting across downtown Toronto.

Dr. van Veghel is passionate about canine and feline neurology. His interests include medical and surgical management of spinal cord injuries, epilepsy and movement disorders.
