Emergency Services
Emergency is open 24/7 and Lead by Two Co-Leads. The shifts are 12.5 hours in length and full-time employees will generally work 12 shifts per month.
Our ER DVMs will perform critical emergency surgeries. If you love surgery we will provide support with our surgeons, external training, and experienced DVMs.
Requirements
As a new hospital we will require a minimum of a rotating internship or at least one year of emergency services in a referral or emergency hospital.

Animal Care Attendant
King Animal Hospital is seeking experienced Animal Care Attendants to join our team.
Our hospital is a 60,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility located on 50 acres in King City, Ontario, and will offer specialty referral, rehabilitation, and emergency services.
The Animal Care Attendant (ACA) reports to the Lead ACA and will work alongside Registered Veterinary Technicians, Veterinarians and Veterinary Specialists to provide high-quality care and support to animals, helping to maintain their health and welfare.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting veterinarians, technicians, and other medical staff during examinations, treatments and possibly surgeries.
- Assisting veterinarians, technicians and other staff with the restraining animals and administering medications.
- You will need to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labour such as bending, stooping and standing for extended periods.
- Interacting with animals in a safe and respectful manner.
- Creating a warm, friendly, and welcoming environment with clients and pets.
- Feeding, watering, exercising, bathing/basic grooming of animals in our care according to established protocols.
- Recording observations in Vet Radar electronic treatment sheets.
- Monitoring animal behaviour and health, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
- General cleaning and disinfecting of your department (laundry, dishes, treatment rooms) in compliance with disinfection protocols.

The Role
The Chief Medical Officer – Equine provides clinical leadership, medical governance, and strategic direction for all equine services. Who You Are
You are a highly respected equine clinician and leader who is motivated by impact, mentorship, and building something exceptional.
Education & Credentials
- Licensed DVM in Ontario or eligible for licensure
Experience
- Significant clinical experience in equine surgery and/or equine emergency and critical care, ideally within a referral, specialty, or teaching hospital environment
- Demonstrated experience in a senior clinical leadership role, such as Chief Medical Officer, Medical Director, Service Head, or equivalent, with responsibility for medical standards, quality of care, and clinical governance
- Experience working within or closely alongside private practice hospital operations, including exposure to:
- Case flow and capacity planning
- Emergency coverage models and on-call structures
- Staffing, scheduling, and utilization of clinical teams
- Financial and operational decision-making impacting sustainability and growth
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop veterinary specialists and multidisciplinary clinical teams
- Experience collaborating with executive leadership (CEO, Operations, Finance, HR) on strategic planning, service line development, and operational improvement
- Exposure to hospital expansion, service growth, or change initiatives (e.g., new facilities, new services, workflow redesign, or scaling emergency operations) is strongly preferred
- Strong track record of complex clinical decision-making, leadership under pressure, and accountability for outcomes in a high-acuity environment

King Animal Hospital is seeking a Board-Certified or Residency Trained Small Animal Ophthalmologist to join our multi-specialty referral and emergency hospital.
You will join our Small Animal Ophthalmology team including one other Ophthalmologist, managing a varied caseload of medical and surgical ophthalmic cases. Most cases are small animal but there is opportunity for equine cases as well. You’ll work closely with our multi-specialty team to support excellent visual outcomes and quality of life for our patients.
